This section of our website will focus on helping the brave souls that end up having to start a business out of necessity for many different reasons. We will have resources to help guide you through the beginning as well as tools to have you think about starting your business with a different mindset. I want to make sure that you plan your business around your life and not the other way around!
Tips for New Entrepreneurs

Many people are now starting a small business from their kitchen table or bedroom office out of necessity to supplement their income. The purpose of a business is to give you more life, not suck the life out of you, as it usually tends to happen. Below you will find some tips to help you not only make more money but give you more time to enjoy it!
When starting a business, never focus on what you think might create the most amount of money for you. You need to focus on what you love to do and what you are naturally gifted at doing. These two traits are the starting point for any successful business.
Focus on the type of business model that will provide you with the most amount of life. My book, SMALL BUSINESS, BIG LIFE, will take you step by step to help you to create your ideal Business Blueprint. A Business Blueprint is not a business plan. A Business Blueprint is the organized framework to help your company grow consistently without becoming a burden on your life.
Never forget that just because you know how to do “something” doesn’t mean that you know how to run a business that does that “something.” Take a small business course with the Small Business Administration (SBA) or at your local community college. Read a business books to familiarize yourself with the knowledge, attitude, skills, and habits (KASH) required of successful entrepreneurs.
Visualize what your business is going to look like when it’s completed. Put the vision in writing and create a business plan. Strong visions provide direction and confidence. Being able to articulate an inspiring vision of your business also helps attract the people interested in supporting you and your business venture.
Never assume that your business is going to be profitable in the early stages. Great businesses take time to evolve and become profitable. Always assume that it’s going to cost you twice as much to get your business started and take you twice as long to get your business profitable. Be realistic with your business projections. You are better off being a little pessimistic than overly optimistic.
To grow your business you need to think strategically. This is the important stuff. Most entrepreneurs get so busy working IN their business that they never have time to work ON their business. The first red flag is when business owners says that they are “too busy” to worry about the strategic stuff.
Successful entrepreneurs love what they do, are great at what they do, and don’t forget to charge for what they do!
A lot of great small businesses start during tough economic times. All big businesses were at one time just small businesses that have done things right. As the saying goes, "necessity is the mother of invention."
